“I’ve been here a long time, seen many come and go
You cannot resist me, sir,” said the Hawk to the Crow
The Crow said “I hear you, brother, and I’m never one to guess
But if I had my say to you, these words I would profess:

The Crow clan long predates you, but now you predate the crows
Killing all our babies, use their feathers for bedclothes
We have come to hate you, and we talk a lot, you know
Amongst ourselves and across the sky to the valley down below.”

The Hawk said, “you are right, we kill, and I killed your mother last
We come to gather what we need, and we take it mighty fast
We make death for you painless, better than to be road kill
To keep our nation strong, you Crows must eat this bitter pill.”

The Crow started to holler, and flapping up his wings
The Hawk responded with a scream, like the bells that devils ring
The Crow had heard it a thousand times, the sound of a thousand cries,
He gathered up his murder, and took the Hawk up to the skies.

The dark birds swarmed in circles, drawing pentagrams and runes
The talons of the Hawk did fly, leaving many gaping wounds
The old Crow who had warned of him went to battle in the sky
He dashed the Hawk into the rocks where in the cold they both did die

Another Hawk will come and kill another thousand Crows
Another man will trade his soul for the evil that he knows
Another day will come and go, with no reason to the rhyme
Another fable written on the rocky banks of time
