By the Laurel Way (Live)
04:08
|
|||
I went walking by the laurel way
When I heard the most blessed sound today
From the heavens, and I began to pray
“Lord I thank you for this perfect day.”
It was in the old Hood’s Chapel they did sing
And that sound was a most unusual thing
Like the bells of Heaven when they ring,
And the people were swaying in the wings, singing:
“This train is bound for glory, this train
This train don’t take no sinners, this train
Just the righteous and the holy, this train”
And though my heart desired to stay, I turned and wandered on my way
They’d been chained with shackles on their feet,
Now they walked by the white men on the street
To God’s kingdom promised, but in life
Still they toiled in a world of strife, so they sang
(chorus)
Now the old Hood’s Chapel’s turned to dust
As all things in this earthly prison must
And these bones of mine are old and growing thin
Still I pray that the truth and light will win
That all people will someday be as one
Side by side in God’s kingdom in the sun
And that day if I’m to Heaven’s kingdom come
I hope to hear again that song that they’d once sung
“This train is bound for glory, this train
This train don’t take no sinner’s this train
Just the righteous and the holy, this train”
Done from wandering on my way, in Heaven’s kingdom, Lord I pray
Done from wandering on my way, in Heaven’s kingdom, Lord I pray

I sat in the graveyard, and I counted the stones
I prayed to my God to make use of my bones
I offered to Him to remember in song
How the old country church got shuttered and gone
They built it with heart, they built it with sweat
They prayed their descendants would never forget
The obstacles they faced, and the victory they won
When they raised the old church in glory to the Son
They lived in His word, and they prayed for His grace
They took the Lord’s supper, and left empty His place
They took the collection, and gave food to the poor
And they loved every poor soul who ever darkened that door
But the world had its way, they stopped fearing the Lord
They couldn’t remember what that old church was for
They built themselves mansions so much bigger in size
Than the old country church, which they shunned from their eyes
They brought big machines, and they broke up the ground
To build the new roads to take them into town
The old country church stood where a highway was bound
They hooked up a wrecker and they tore that church down
I buried my father in that old hallowed ground
And I cried every time another good man went down
I can still see my mother, she is waving me on
Though the old country church is now shuttered and gone
This song is nigh over, its story is told
But I hope you’ll remember those things that are old
If they had your protection, they would be with us still
Like the old country church that once sat on this hill

Heal Me (Live)
04:28
|
|||
Heal my heart, Lord, heal me;
Hear these prayers, Lord, and set your servant free.
All the pain my heart has felt,
In your loving arms will melt.
Heal my heart, Lord, heal me.
Heal my body Lord, heal my frame;
Though I know that it and dust are just the same.
With this temple I am blessed;
Please, Lord, give it food and rest.
Heal my body, Lord, heal my frame.
Heal my mind, Lord, heal my mind;
Show me truth of the Gospel-loving kind--
To know I’m saved from certain death,
And that my life is from your breath.
Heal my mind, Lord, heal my mind.
Heal my spirit, Lord, heal my soul.
Raise it up unto your city made of gold.
That your peace I’ll someday know, when it’s time for me to go.
Heal my spirit, Lord, heal my soul.
Heal my heart, Lord, heal me.
Hear these prayers, Lord, and set your servant free.
All the pain my heart has felt, in your loving arms will melt.
Heal my heart, Lord, heal me.

The rising sun and the setting sun please the One who created them
The falling leaves and the evergreens reaching for the sky above
The birds that sing, the ancient springs, bringing forth the waters of life
And all these things are in harmony with the One who created All
With the One who created All
The Word and Spirit brought us here for the One who created All
The joy and laughter, pain and tears, for the One who created All
The life we share is only there for a moment, then it’s gone
And how we live is our offering to the One who created All
To the One who created All
The road is long and the journey tough to the One who created All
The Word in song is our hopeful prayer to the One who created All
The birds that sing, the ancient spring, bringing forth the waters of life
And all these things are in harmony with the One who created All
With the One who created All, with the One who created All.

Mary in the World (Live)
04:10
|
|||
The angel Gabriel came to visit her that night
A lowly girl-child, wondering silently
“What mighty blessing brings God’s messenger near?
What could this mean for my dear family?”
Before they adored her, first they scorned her,
Through many trials in between
It was the love of Mary in the world,
He was the child of Heaven born to an innocent girl
With this great gift a mother’s sadness came
It was the love of Mary in the world
To be the one “most highly favoured” of God
She lost her heart and suffered deepest pain
This child wrested from the bosom of her youth,
So that the rest of us could live again
How many before her so forlorn were,
Suffering a fate most cruel and mean?
All for the love of Mary in the world,
He was the child of Heaven born to an innocent girl
With this great gift a mother’s sadness came
All for the love of Mary in the world
Selflessness honored in the least of these
While wealth and power are the chief disease
How many times must we deny them our witness
Who come to save us from ourselves
And it’s the love of Mary in the world,
He is the child of Heaven born to an innocent girl
With this great gift a mother’s sadness comes
And it’s the love of Mary in the world
Yes it’s the love of Mary in the world
